Standard Transfer Sequence

  1. Use the powered base adjustment to position the HPL700 around the chair, bed, or wheelchair as appropriate for the transfer.
  2. Apply the appropriate sling according to the sling instructions.
  3. Attach the sling securely to the HPL700 cradle using the correct attachment points.
  4. Confirm that the sling is properly attached and positioned before lifting.
  5. Raise the patient smoothly using the hand control.
  6. Maneuver the lift using the handle provided. Do not move the lift by pushing or pulling on the mast, boom, or patient.
  7. Move a loaded HPL700 only at a slow walking pace and avoid uneven surfaces and floor obstructions.
  8. Lower the patient in a controlled manner onto the destination surface.
  9. Once the patient is safely supported, detach and remove the sling as appropriate.

HPL700 Caster & Wheel Safety

Wheel use depends on the type of transfer being performed. When lifting a patient from the floor, Joerns specifically instructs caregivers to lock the wheels. For other transfers, follow the current Hoyer HPL700 user manual and the instructions for the specific transfer being performed.

Floor Recovery

The HPL700 can be used for floor lifting when operated according to the manufacturer’s instructions. When lifting from the floor, lock the wheels as instructed by Joerns and use a sling that is suitable for the patient and compatible with the HPL700.

Before beginning a floor lift, make sure there is adequate space around the patient and lift, confirm that the sling is correctly fitted, and plan the entire transfer before raising the patient.

Powered Base & Maneuvering

The HPL700 features a power-operated base that allows the lift legs to be adjusted for positioning around beds, chairs, and wheelchairs. The lift also includes oversized handles and a foot push pad to assist with maneuvering.

Joerns instructs caregivers to maneuver the HPL700 using the provided handle rather than pushing on the mast, boom, or patient. A loaded lift should be moved only at a slow walking pace and should not be pushed or pulled over floor obstructions, uneven ground, or rough surfaces.
