The Hoyer Stature is a professional full-body patient lift with true vertical lifting and a 500 lb safe working load. It can be configured with either a 4-point positioning cradle for Securi3 clip-style slings or an optional 6-point spreader bar for loop-style slings.
Preparation Checklist
- Ensure the batteries are adequately charged before use.
- Clear the transfer path and make sure there is sufficient space for the Stature’s powered base.
- Confirm which sling attachment system is installed on the lift before selecting a sling.
- Use only a sling that is compatible with the installed spreader bar or positioning cradle and suitable for the patient.
- Inspect the sling and lift before each transfer.
- Explain the transfer process to the patient before beginning.
Standard Transfer Sequence
- Position the Stature around the patient and adjust the powered base as needed for access and stability.
- Apply the appropriate sling according to the sling manufacturer’s instructions.
- Attach the sling securely to the installed spreader bar or positioning cradle.
- Confirm that all attachment points are secure before lifting.
- Raise the patient smoothly using the hand control.
- Move the lift carefully using the designated push handle or push pad.
- Lower the patient in a controlled manner onto the destination surface.
- Once the patient is safely supported, detach and remove the sling as appropriate.
Stature Caster & Brake Safety
Caster and brake use depends on the type of transfer being performed. When lifting a patient from the floor, Joerns specifically instructs caregivers to lock the wheels. For other transfers, follow the current Hoyer Stature user manual and the instructions for the specific transfer being performed.
Floor Recovery & Higher Surfaces
The Hoyer Stature is designed with a large vertical lifting range and can lift patients from the floor as well as accommodate transfers to higher surfaces. For floor recovery, follow the current Joerns Stature user manual, lock the wheels as instructed for a floor lift, and use a sling that is compatible with the installed attachment system.
Stature Sling Attachment Systems
The Hoyer Stature can use two different sling attachment systems. These systems are not interchangeable.
- 6-point spreader bar: Uses loop-style slings with webbing loops.
- 4-point positioning cradle: Uses Hoyer Comfort slings with the Securi3 safety clip system.
Always confirm which attachment system is installed on your Stature before ordering a sling.
