Proper battery care, powered-base inspection, cleaning, and preventive maintenance help keep the Hoyer Stature ready for regular use. Joerns provides specific charging, Smart Monitor, inspection, and service instructions for the Stature that should be followed instead of relying on generic patient-lift maintenance advice.

Hoyer Stature Battery System

The Hoyer Stature is supplied with two rechargeable battery packs and an off-board charger. This setup allows one battery to remain available for the lift while the second battery is charging.

Joerns recommends keeping the batteries fully charged whenever possible.

How Long Does the Stature Battery Take to Charge?

Joerns states that a full charge takes approximately four hours.

Charging is automatic:

Green light – mains power is on
Yellow light – the battery is charging
Yellow light off – the battery is fully charged

Joerns recommends charging the battery immediately when the lift is first received.

How to Charge the Hoyer Stature

Remove the battery pack from the lift by releasing the retaining latch.
Fit the battery pack securely onto the off-board charging unit.
Connect the charger to an appropriate electrical outlet.
Allow the battery to charge until the yellow charging light turns off.
Disconnect the charger from power.
Remove the battery from the charger.
Reinstall the battery on the Stature and make sure the latch clicks securely into place.

Can You Leave the Stature Battery Charging Overnight?

Yes. Joerns recommends keeping the batteries fully charged and states that a battery may be placed on charge whenever it is not in use.

The battery can also be charged every night if that is more convenient. The charger is designed to prevent the batteries from overcharging when left connected for an extended period.

Do Not Run the Battery Completely Flat

Joerns specifically instructs users not to run the Stature batteries completely flat.

When the Smart Monitor displays a half-empty battery symbol, the battery should be placed on charge as soon as possible.

If the audible low-battery warning sounds during operation, complete the lifting operation already in progress and place the battery on charge.

Battery Storage

Do not store the battery for long periods without regular charging.

Joerns also instructs users not to leave a battery pack connected to the charger when the charger itself is unplugged.

Smart Monitor Service Reminder

When the Stature reaches its service interval, the Smart Monitor displays a service symbol.

Smart Monitor Overload Protection

If the Stature detects an attempted lift above its safe working load, the Smart Monitor records an overload event and stops the lifting function.

Lower the boom, remove the excess load, and complete the normal daily safety checks before the lift is returned to service.

Powered Base

The Hoyer Stature comes standard with electrically adjustable legs.

The caregiver can open or close the base using the hand control. This helps position the lift around armchairs, wheelchairs, beds, and other transfer surfaces while reducing the need for manual leg adjustment.

When the hand-control button is released, the legs remain locked in their selected position.

Using the Powered Base in Narrow Areas

Joerns recommends closing the legs when moving through narrow doorways and passages.

Test the legs through their full inward and outward range and confirm that they respond correctly to the hand control.
