The Hoyer Presence Pro 500 can be configured with either a 6-point spreader bar for loop-style slings or a 4-point positioning cradle for Hoyer Comfort slings with Securi3 clips. These attachment systems are different, so the sling must match the cradle or spreader bar installed on the lift.

Presence Sling Attachment Systems

Joerns offers two sling attachment systems for the Hoyer Presence:

  • 6-point spreader bar: Uses Hoyer loop-style slings with webbing loops.
  • 4-point positioning cradle: Uses Hoyer Comfort slings with the Securi3 safety clip system.

Always confirm which attachment system is installed on the Presence before ordering or using a sling.

4-Point Securi3 Cradle Options

For clip-style Hoyer Comfort slings, the Presence can use a 4-point positioning cradle.

These 4-point cradle options use the Hoyer Securi3 clip system. Loop-style slings should not be attached to a 4-point Securi3 cradle.

6-Point Loop-Style Spreader Bar Options

For Hoyer loop-style slings, the Presence can be equipped with a 6-point spreader bar.

The 6-point spreader bar uses loop-style slings with webbing loops. Securi3 clip-style Hoyer Comfort slings should not be attached to a 6-point loop spreader bar.

Compatible Comfort Slings for a 4-Point Presence

Joerns identifies the Hoyer Comfort sling family for use with the 4-point Securi3 positioning cradle.

The Comfort Access sling connects to the 4-point cradle using Securi3 clips. It is intended for seated toileting and hygiene transfers and is not a general-purpose full-body sling.

Do Not Mix Loop & Clip Sling Systems

A loop-style sling should only be used with the Presence when a compatible 6-point loop spreader bar is installed.

A Securi3 clip-style Hoyer Comfort sling should only be used with a compatible 4-point positioning cradle.

Do not attach loop-style sling straps to a 4-point Securi3 cradle or clip-style slings to a 6-point spreader bar.

Choosing the Correct Sling

Sling selection should consider the patient’s body measurements, weight, mobility, trunk and head control, positioning needs, and the type of transfer being performed.

Different sling designs provide different levels of support and access. A toileting sling, for example, may provide less body support than a full-body sling and may not be appropriate for every patient.

Choosing the Correct Sling Size

The Presence has a 500 lb safe working load, but lift capacity alone should not determine sling size.

Sling sizing should follow the guidance for the specific sling model and take into account the patient’s measurements, body shape, positioning needs, and weight.

Check Sling & Cradle Capacity

Never exceed the safe working load of the Hoyer Presence, the sling, the spreader bar, the positioning cradle, or any other component being used in the transfer system.

The maximum usable capacity of the complete system is determined by its lowest-rated component.

Inspect the Sling Before Every Transfer

Inspect the sling before every use for fraying, tears, cuts, damaged stitching, worn loops, damaged clips, or other signs of deterioration. Do not use a damaged sling.

Before raising the patient, confirm that every required sling attachment is properly and securely connected to the installed cradle or spreader bar.
